We all have those days when we prefer to stay in bed, skip a meeting, or avoid a certain person because we just don’t want to deal with it. But we also know that we must show up if we want to achieve or create the things we’ve been dreaming about. So what do we do? Do we give in to our feelings and try to plan our lives based on how we feel on certain days?
As I write this article, I’m having one of those days. I’m just not in the mood, and my energy level is low today. However, I made a commitment to myself that I will write three articles a week for My Emotional DNA’s new blog. Because creating the things I want is important to me, my commitment to myself is crucial.
To get the engine going, I decided that I first need to show up. Showing up, in this case, means sitting in front of the computer and starting to write. I had no idea what I was going to write about, and I’m not in the mood, so I just started writing until something started to fall into place. I began with ‘I don’t want to do it. I’m really not in the mood, and I want to get up and leave now.’ And this is how this article came about. It’s funny how things end up working out when we just show up and follow through on our commitments.
As I write this article, so many other memories come to mind of situations where I showed up even when I wasn’t in the mood, and they ended up working out in a beautiful way. This article serves as a great reminder for me to be present with my vision of the future, my commitment to myself, and not let the feelings of the past stand in the way of creation.
In another article, we will explore why we keep experiencing shifts in feelings and where these feelings come from. Until next time, SHOW UP FOR YOURSELF.”
